Gibson Yah’s Journey from Ajax to FC Volendam

omidbasir- Gibson Yah spent a remarkable eight years in the youth academy of Ajax but was unable to transition to the first team. However, through a circuitous route, he has now made his way to the Eredivisie, joining FC Volendam. At just 22 years old, Yah envisions a possible return to Amsterdam in the future.

Despite his unsuccessful stint at Ajax, Yah is thriving at FC Volendam. In 2022, he made a free transfer to the youth academy of FC Utrecht. This summer, he signed with FC Volendam, where he has already made a significant impact. This season, he has faced both FC Utrecht and Ajax, with the latter match holding special significance for him. “The game against Ajax was particularly memorable,” he stated in an interview with Voetbal International. “I joined Ajax when I was ten and left eight years later; that experience accounted for nearly half of my life at that time.”
