Gill Set to Join Atlanta United After Barcelona DepartureGill Set to Join Atlanta United After Barcelona Departure

Gill is poised to leave FC Barcelona once the final aspects of his transfer deal are finalized.

Atlanta United is expected to pay a nominal transfer fee, allowing the player to return to the United States and advance his career in Major League Soccer (MLS). Gill will occupy a Supplemental Roster spot, ensuring that his salary will not affect Atlanta’s primary salary cap.

As a member of Barcelona’s squad that triumphed in the UEFA Youth League in 2025, Gill’s progression was hampered in recent seasons due to injuries. Last season, he sustained a significant knee injury that sidelined him for a considerable period, resulting in his absence from squad registration. To safeguard his value and facilitate his recovery, Barcelona decided to extend his contract through 2026.

In November, Gill was loaned to Cornellà in Spain’s Tercera RFEF to regain his match fitness. The loan was beneficial, allowing him to return to competitive play and perform well enough to catch the attention of Atlanta United. Cornellà served as a familiar setting for Gill, as he had previously played there before joining Barcelona’s academy.

Originally from Denver, Colorado, Gill is now set to make the transition back to the U.S. and MLS, where he will reunite with head coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino, a former manager of Barcelona’s first team.
