Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, has been called to testify in Ecuador following a complaint from LaLiga, which accuses the American company of enabling the illegal distribution of content from the Primera and Segunda División. This information was first reported by the newspaper ‘Expreso’.

In its complaint, LaLiga alleges that Google has permitted 12 applications to stream matches without authorization. In addition to Pichai, several other Google executives have also been summoned to provide testimony.

The applications identified by LaLiga include Futbol Online, Futbol Now, Futbol Plus, Futbol Sport, Futbol en Vivo Pro, Futbol en Vivo Total, Futbol en Vivo Hoy, Futbol Mania, Tele Futbol App, Futbol en Vivo Play, Como Ver Futbol en Vivo, and Fútbol en Vivo. LaLiga claims that Google has kept these applications available in its store despite having received prior notifications to remove them.

Javier Tebas, the president of LaLiga, has openly accused Google in various statements regarding piracy. He has stated, “Google is a necessary collaborator in this theft; Google profits from it.” He further mentioned, “We have several criminal complaints against Google for various offenses, including complicity and money laundering,” during the recent MARCA Sport Weekend.
