Guehi s Transfer to Manchester City Amidst Controversy and Managerial TurmoilGuehi s Transfer to Manchester City Amidst Controversy and Managerial Turmoil

Marc Guehi arrived in Manchester on Sunday morning, but his flight encountered unexpected drama just before 9 a.m. According to reports from The Sun, the landing of his private jet was aborted when a larger aircraft was unexpectedly moved onto the runway, necessitating emergency measures. Fortunately, Guehi’s flight eventually landed safely at Manchester Airport, allowing him to proceed to Manchester City to finalize his transfer.

Guehi is entering the final year of his contract with Crystal Palace, having nearly moved to Liverpool last summer; however, that deal fell through at the last minute. His impending transfer to City aims to prevent Palace from losing him for free at the season’s conclusion. This decision, however, has provoked ire from Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace, who expressed his frustration after learning about the sale just one day before their match against Sunderland.

Glasner stated in an interview with Sky Sports: “I first heard about the decision to sell Marc yesterday at 10:30 a.m. The negotiations must have taken place over several days, but I believe no one informed us until everything was agreed upon at that time. We are facing a match day, struggling with player availability, and now we are selling our captain. No team would conduct business in such a manner.”

The uncertainty surrounding Glasner’s future at Crystal Palace has also escalated. He recently announced intentions to leave the club at the end of the season; however, his comments expressing feelings of abandonment could lead to his dismissal.

Guehi’s transfer arrives at a crucial time for Manchester City, who recently suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Manchester United. With key center-backs John Stones, Ruben Dias, and Josko Gvardiol sidelined due to injury, manager Pep Guardiola has had to rely on inexperienced defenders Abdukodir Khusanov and Max Alleyne in recent matches. Following the loss, Guardiola acknowledged that his team was outperformed, stating: “They were the better team today. We did not bring the required energy to win this type of match. While we showcased that energy just days ago against Newcastle, it was absent today.”

Looking ahead, Manchester City will aim to regain their form in their next Champions League match against Bodo/Glimt, a team that has yet to secure a victory in the competition this season, recording three draws and three losses from their first six matches.
