Haaland s Historic Goal Scoring Milestone in the Premier LeagueHaaland s Historic Goal Scoring Milestone in the Premier League

Erling Haaland entered the match against Fulham having not scored in two consecutive games for the first time this season, following goalless appearances against Newcastle and Leeds, as well as a substitute appearance in the Champions League against Bayer Leverkusen. However, he broke this mini-drought by scoring in the 17th minute at Craven Cottage, adding another achievement to his record in the Premier League.

Haaland struck a powerful shot with his preferred left foot from a cut-back by Jeremy Doku, breaking the deadlock and scoring for the seventh time in seven encounters against Fulham. He has now become the 35th player in history to reach 100 Premier League goals. At just 25 years old and with a contract at Manchester City until 2034, he is well-positioned to join the ranks of Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane, and Alan Shearer as one of the few players to achieve 200 or more Premier League goals.

In his debut season with Manchester City, Haaland made history by scoring 36 goals, surpassing the previous record of 34 goals in a single campaign held by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole for 28 years. While Haaland has expressed that he does not focus on records, he is aware of Shearer’s all-time record of 260 goals.

Shearer, the former striker for Newcastle and Blackburn Rovers, has acknowledged the likelihood of Haaland breaking his record. In an October interview with The Sun, he stated, “Yes, I believe Haaland will break my record. He’s the perfect striker; his record’s unbelievable and his hunger to score is relentless. He’s quick, strong, agile, and reacts faster than most players inside the six-yard box. His finishing ability is incredible.”
