Hannibal Mejbri, a midfielder for Burnley, has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association (FA) following allegations that he spat towards Leeds United fans during a match last month. The 22-year-old player entered the Premier League match at Turf Moor as a substitute in the 83rd minute, which Burnley won 2-0. However, the incident in question allegedly took place approximately 16 minutes prior to his introduction, while Mejbri was warming up. Lancashire Police initiated an investigation after a complaint was lodged by a Leeds supporter in the away section of the stadium. According to an FA statement, it is alleged that Mejbri acted in violation of the laws of the game, engaged in improper conduct, and exhibited abusive or indecent behavior by spitting at or in the direction of Leeds United supporters around the 67th minute. Hannibal Mejbri has been given until Friday, 28 November, to respond to the charges.
