Harry Kane Open to Contract Extension at Bayern MunichHarry Kane Open to Contract Extension at Bayern Munich

Harry Kane stated on Tuesday that he is open to extending his contract with Bayern Munich and does not intend to transfer to another club.

The former Tottenham striker, whose contract with the Bundesliga giants is set to expire in the summer of 2027, has recently been linked with a transfer to Barcelona, in addition to ongoing speculation regarding a possible return to the Premier League.

This week, Kane finds himself in familiar territory as Bayern prepares to face Arsenal in a Champions League clash in north London. Ahead of the match, the England captain reiterated his contentment with his current situation in Munich.

“The move has been one of the best decisions of my life,” said the 32-year-old, who joined Bayern from Spurs in 2023. “Experiencing a new league, playing for a team like Bayern Munich, and enjoying the atmosphere during these European nights has significantly contributed to my career growth and development as a player.

“I’m quite open to staying longer. Given our current form and the style of play, I believe we are one of the best teams in Europe, without a doubt. I don’t look at other teams and think, ‘I want to go there.’ I’m genuinely happy here. I have 18 months left on my contract, and I am sure discussions will take place in the future.”

Kane also remarked that the Premier League has been “less enjoyable” this season, largely due to an increased emphasis on set-pieces, a trend that Arsenal has notably embraced.

“Watching the Premier League is probably a bit less enjoyable than it has been in previous years, to be honest,” he commented. “However, this is part of football’s evolution. Trends come and go, and this season has been no different. Arsenal has capitalized on that, becoming a formidable set-piece team.

“Naturally, we have analyzed their strengths and identified ways to mitigate their threats. The most effective strategy is to avoid giving away set-pieces altogether.”

Kane also acknowledged that scoring against Arsenal brings him “a bit more joy” than scoring against any other club. He has netted 15 goals in 21 appearances against the Gunners, including a goal for Bayern at the Emirates in the first leg of their quarter-final in 2024.

“Perhaps subconsciously that’s true. With Tottenham, matches against Arsenal were always significant,” he reflected. “I have many friends who support Arsenal, as well as those who are Tottenham fans, so there’s a unique dynamic involved.

“With Bayern, it’s slightly different since we don’t face them often. We played against them in a quarter-final a couple of years ago, which was a notable victory for us. From my perspective, scoring against them does bring a little extra joy, but ultimately, winning the game is my primary focus.”
