Sky Germany and Kicker report that Hoffenheim is poised to finalize the acquisition of midfielder Luis Engelns from Paderborn.

While the transfer fee for the 18-year-old is yet to be disclosed, he is currently valued at €4 million and has a contract with Paderborn that extends until 2027.

This season, Engelns has featured 17 times for Paderborn in the 2.Bundesliga and is versatile enough to play in various midfield positions. In light of the recent departure of Dennis Geiger, Engelns is anticipated to serve as both a backup option and a potential future asset for the team.

Notably, Engelns is the son of former Borussia Mönchengladbach and current Leeds United manager Daniel Farke.

He will not be the only new face arriving on deadline day for Christian Ilzer’s squad. Striker Yannick Eduardo is set to join from RB Leipzig for €2 million, and Stuttgarter Kickers defender Oskas Hencke will also be welcomed to the team.

Currently, Hoffenheim occupies the third position in the Bundesliga, trailing second-place Borussia Dortmund by only three points. Under the management of Ilzer, the team has transformed from relegation contenders to serious competitors for a Champions League spot.
