Igor Zubeldia Set to Return for Real Sociedad Match Against VillarrealIgor Zubeldia Set to Return for Real Sociedad Match Against Villarreal

Igor Zubeldia will be on the field this Sunday at 14:00 hours in Anoeta, ready to play for Real Sociedad against Villarreal. He has rejoined group training under the guidance of Sergio Francisco, having seemingly overcome the muscular discomfort that kept him out of last Saturday’s match at El Sadar. The Azkoitia-born central defender has shown promising signs and is likely to reclaim his usual spot in the starting lineup.

Following the Euskadi vs. Palestine match, Zubeldia was unable to train with his teammates on the following Monday due to a muscle overload that required more recovery time than initially anticipated. Consequently, he missed the previous match against Osasuna, and there were concerns he might also miss the upcoming match against Villarreal.

Fortunately for Sergio and the team, Zubeldia, who is the only outfield player to have played every minute prior to the break, will be back at his coach’s disposal. It seems he will even be fit to start alongside Jon Martín, a positive development considering the strength of Villarreal’s attacking players expected on the pitch this Sunday.

Zubeldia and his teammates, although missing Mikel Oyarzabal due to his muscular injury, completed their penultimate training session today in preparation for the LaLiga return this Sunday at 14:00 hours against Villarreal. The final training session is scheduled for tomorrow at 11:00 hours, after which it is expected that Real Sociedad will announce the squad that Sergio will field for the match.
