In the XXIX edition of LaLiga FC Futures, the MVP title did not go to a goalkeeper, but it certainly wasn’t due to a lack of merit on the part of Iñigo Asorey, arguably the most decisive player of the tournament. His impressive saves were complemented by a historic goal scored from his own area during the quarter-final match against Juventus.

Against Real Madrid, Iñigo became a formidable presence during the penalty shootout, saving shots from Hugo and Alex, the two most dangerous players on the opposing team. In the final, he played a crucial role in the early stages, particularly when Villarreal started strong against Atlético. He also made critical saves as Villarreal pressed for an equalizer towards the end, proving his worth time and again.

Iñigo has captured the admiration of his coaches. “What you see from Iñigo is just 10%. He trains with the Infantil A and excels in the area. We are thrilled,” stated Javi Rodríguez, assistant coach of the Atlético Infantil B team, in an interview with MARCA.

However, there is a challenge for Iñigo: his height. Atlético has a policy requiring goalkeepers to be at least 1.85 meters tall to progress to the youth division. Currently, Iñigo stands at around 1.65 meters at just 12 years old, raising questions about his future, although he has time to grow.

For now, Iñigo is relishing his success as the champion of LaLiga FC Futures, proudly celebrating with his family—which includes his mother, father, and younger sister, Vega, who cheered him on from the stands wearing an Atlético jersey. Despite his current stature, he is already proving to be a giant in the world of football.
