Tyler Smith Suffers Concussion as Adams Battles Through Full 90 Minutes in Bournemouth Clash

A concerning collision early in Bournemouth’s latest Premier League fixture left both Tyler Smith and Adam Adams requiring medical attention. The incident occurred within the opening minutes of the match when the two players clashed heads in an aerial duel, sending both tumbling to the turf.

Smith sustained a deep cut above his left eye, with blood streaming down his face, forcing Andoni Iraola to replace him in the 10th minute with Álex Jiménez. Despite appearing disoriented, Adams recovered sufficiently to complete the match.

“Adam was in worse condition than Tyler,” Iraola revealed in his post-match press conference. “At first, I was told Tyler would continue, but it seemed nearly impossible for Adam. Still, he managed to finish the game, and I hope it’s nothing serious.”

The Bournemouth manager confirmed that Smith suffered a concussion but was alert and responsive after the game. “He seems fine now and remembers everything. The bleeding was heavy, but our main concern was the concussion, which is why we made the substitution. Hopefully, it’s only a minor issue, but we’ll wait for further medical checks.”

The timing of the incident may affect Adams’ participation with the U.S. men’s national team during the upcoming international window. The 26-year-old midfielder, who has started all 11 Premier League matches this season, is expected to join Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for friendlies against Paraguay and Uruguay.

The USMNT will face Paraguay on November 15 at Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania, followed by a second match against Uruguay on November 18 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
