omidbasir- Veteran goalkeeper Oscar Ustari served as the primary choice between the posts for Javier Mascherano last season, while Rocco Rios Novo was instrumental in Inter Miami’s triumph over the Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS Cup final.

In a bid to further strengthen the squad, Inter Miami has secured the signing of goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair, who gained prominence during his tenure with Minnesota United. The club is confident that St. Clair will bring “top-level experience and proven quality” to their roster.

In an official statement, the Herons announced: “St. Clair, 28, joins Inter Miami following an impressive season with Minnesota United, where he was named the 2025 Goalkeeper of the Year and played a crucial role in leading the Loons to their second consecutive Western Conference semifinal in 2024 and 2025. A two-time MLS All-Star (2022, 2025) and All-Star MVP (2022), St. Clair has consistently delivered elite performances, showcasing valuable experience and a winning pedigree.”

Originating from Ontario, St. Clair was the seventh overall pick in the 2019 MLS Superdraft. After joining Minnesota, he was loaned to their affiliate, Forward Madison FC in USL League One, and later to San Antonio FC in the USL Championship.

His reputation soared upon his return to Minnesota, culminating in his first All-Star selection in 2022, where he also earned MVP honors. By 2025, St. Clair was recognized as reaching the “pinnacle of his performance.”

Inter Miami highlights that: “The Canadian international led the league with a 77.93 percent save percentage, recording the most saves (113) and clean sheets (10) throughout 30 regular-season appearances. He was the only goalkeeper in 2025 to maintain a goals-against average of 1.00 while achieving a save percentage above 75 percent.”

St. Clair received his first international call-up in 2021 and made his debut during a CONCACAF World Cup qualifying match against Aruba. He has since earned 18 caps and is anticipated to play in the 2026 World Cup, which will feature several matches in Canada.

In addition to St. Clair, Inter Miami has acquired defender Mura as a free agent. The club announced his arrival under a contract extending through 2029. Mura, who previously severed ties with Racing Club, spent four seasons with the team from 2022 to 2025, contributing 12 goals and 15 assists, thus demonstrating his capability to impact both defensive and offensive play.

Mura has also played for CA Colon and Estudiantes throughout his career, amassing four trophies. With aspirations to enhance his medal collection alongside his compatriot Lionel Messi in the U.S., he aims to make an immediate impact in his new role.

Both St. Clair and Mura understand the importance of hitting the ground running in a team accustomed to success, especially as they prepare for a new stadium opening.

The MLS Cup champions will commence their title defense on the road, awaiting the completion of their purpose-built ground. Their 2026 campaign is set to kick off on February 21 against LAFC, with a home match against Austin FC scheduled for April 4 in Freedom Park.
