omidbasir- Ivan Toney is fervently aspiring to win the World Cup with England as he seeks to secure a position in Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

The 29-year-old striker for Al Ahli has already netted 20 goals in the Saudi Pro League this season, surpassing even Cristiano Ronaldo. Toney last represented England in a friendly against Senegal in June of the previous year and also earned a runners-up medal at Euro 2024.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports News, Toney expressed the significance of being included in Tuchel’s squad for the tournament set to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico this summer. He stated, “It would be a dream to play there. Everybody dreams of that, and imagine if we were to win the World Cup? That would be for the country. You have these little visions of what could happen, and if it were to come true, it would be a big blessing.”

While acknowledging that Harry Kane, the Bayern Munich frontman, remains the primary choice for England, Toney is hopeful about being a reliable backup. He remarked, “My job is to keep scoring goals, and hopefully that gives me the best chance of being there.”

Toney’s move to Al Ahli from Brentford last summer raised some eyebrows, but he is open to the possibility of returning to the Premier League in the future. “I never say never. I have goals I want to achieve here first, but in football and in life, you never know what’s around the corner. You just take it day by day, step by step. Hopefully, I can achieve something big here first, and who knows what the next step will be?”
