Jack Grealish Undergoes Surgery After Season Ending InjuryJack Grealish Undergoes Surgery After Season Ending Injury

Jack Grealish has announced that he did not want the season to conclude in such a manner, having undergone surgery due to a stress fracture in his foot.

The talented midfielder was on a season-long loan at Everton from Manchester City when he sustained the injury on January 18 during a 1-0 victory over his former club, Aston Villa. Grealish, aged 30, made 22 appearances for Everton this season, contributing two goals and six assists.

In an Instagram post, Grealish expressed his disappointment, stating, “I didn’t want the season to end like this but that’s football, I’m gutted. Surgery is complete, and my focus is now on getting back to fitness. I am confident that I will return fitter, stronger, and better than ever.”

This injury effectively quashes any aspirations Grealish had of being selected for England’s World Cup squad this summer. His recent performances had sparked speculation about a possible return to the national team, particularly after his last appearance under caretaker manager Lee Carsley in October 2024.

Since joining Manchester City from Aston Villa for a then British record of £100 million in 2021, Grealish has secured three Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, and an FA Cup. However, he found himself out of favor during the previous season, making only seven league starts for City and was subsequently omitted from the squad for the Club World Cup in the United States. Following this, he signed with Everton on loan.

Grealish expressed gratitude for the support he has received since joining Everton, stating, “The support I’ve had since coming to this unbelievable club has meant the world to me. The staff, my teammates, and especially the fans have been incredible, and I absolutely love representing this club. I will be cheering on the lads and doing everything I can to return as soon as possible. Thank you again for all the love; it means so much.”
