Javi Rueda will remain with Celta de Vigo until at least 2029, as he has extended his contract by two additional seasons beyond its original expiration in June 2027.

The Málaga native joined Celta for the 2023-24 season, initially playing for the club’s reserve team. He made his first-team debut on May 26, 2024, at Balaídos against Valencia, in a match that ended in a 2-2 draw.

Last season, Rueda was loaned to Albacete, where he had an impressive season that paved the way for his inclusion in Celta’s first team this year. He reunites with coach Claudio Giráldez, who has great faith in Rueda’s abilities and his potential for further development at just 23 years of age.

This season, despite missing three weeks due to injury, Rueda has participated in eleven official matches, scoring one goal and providing three assists.

The club has expressed its enthusiasm about Rueda’s contract extension through an official statement, highlighting: “His physical prowess, speed, and ability to reach the byline make him a full-fledged modern full-back. These qualities will continue to be at Claudio Giráldez’s disposal with this renewal, reinforcing Celta’s commitment to a player with significant potential.”
