Jenni Hermoso Triumphs with Tigres Femenil, Eyes Nations League Success

Jenni Hermoso, the renowned Spain international, has fulfilled her dream of winning a title in Mexico, leading Tigres Femenil to victory in the 2025 Apertura tournament on Sunday.

In a closely contested match, Tigres Femenil narrowly defeated America 1-0, clinching the championship with a 4-3 aggregate win.

At 35, Hermoso, who previously faced challenges including the infamous ‘Rubiales kiss scandal’ following Spain’s triumph at the 2023 World Cup, had experienced setbacks in Liga MX finals with both Tigres and her former club, Pachuca.

“Third time’s the charm, and you cannot imagine how happy this trophy makes me,” the former Barcelona star remarked after the match. “This victory is particularly meaningful; being so far from home and family has been difficult. I promised myself not to leave Mexico without winning a title, and today, I am leaving with great satisfaction.”

Tigres celebrated the achievement by sharing a photo of Hermoso kissing the trophy on Instagram, declaring, “The World Champion is now also the Champion of Mexico!”

Despite her recent success, Hermoso will delay her celebrations as she prepares to travel to Madrid on Monday to join the national team. Spain is set to face Germany in the Nations League two-legged final, with the first match scheduled for Friday in Kaiserslautern and the decisive clash on December 2 in Madrid.

Hermoso played a pivotal role in Spain’s historic World Cup victory in 2023, yet her post-match celebrations were overshadowed by an unsolicited kiss from former Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales. A Spanish court found Rubiales guilty of sexually assaulting Hermoso earlier this year.

Recently, Hermoso has made her return to the national team after a hiatus since 2024, which the coach attributed to “technical reasons.”
