Jens Stage Powers Werder Bremen s Resurgence in BundesligaJens Stage Powers Werder Bremen s Resurgence in Bundesliga

Werder Bremen’s Bundesliga campaign is witnessing a resurgence, significantly attributed to the outstanding contributions of Danish midfielder Jens Stage. The team faced challenges early in the season, partly due to Stage’s need to regain form following an injury sustained during training camp.

Now at 29 years old, Stage is returning to his previous season’s form, consistently finding the back of the net despite operating from a deep midfield position. After an impressive tally of ten goals last season, he has already scored four goals in just eight league appearances this season. Impressively, Stage has netted three goals in his last four starts, playing a crucial role in securing late equalizers against Mainz and Wolfsburg in recent fixtures.

His most recent goal contributed to deepening Wolfsburg’s ongoing struggles but left the two-time capped Danish international with mixed emotions. The match held special significance for Stage, as it provided him the opportunity to compete against one of his idols, Danish football legend Christian Eriksen, who is currently facing difficulties with his team.

Discussing the match, Stage expressed his sympathies for Wolfsburg’s plight, noting, “Wolfsburg is going through a difficult phase, which I’m sorry about because I have a lot of good friends there. Jonas Wind is a great friend of mine, as are Andreas Skov Olsen and Joakim Maehle. Christian Eriksen is a role model for me as a Dane. It was special to play against him. I played with him once in the national team. This was the first time I was able to face him as an opponent.”
