His shirt sales soared, attendance at matches increased, and a special section dubbed the “Lingard Zone” was established in the stadium to meet fan demand. Most importantly, his performances began to improve significantly.

By the 2025 season, Lingard had transformed from a novelty and marketing figure to the heartbeat of FC Seoul. Achieving double-digit league goals for the first time at the age of 33 is a testament to his remarkable revival. Rather than fading into obscurity, Lingard has successfully reinvented himself in East Asia, emerging as both a leader and a star attraction.

His recent milestone indicates that he remains integral to FC Seoul’s tactical strategies, and the club will continue to rely on his attacking prowess as the K League season draws to a close. To maximize Lingard’s contributions, FC Seoul must address their late-game vulnerabilities.

On Tuesday, FC Seoul will face Chinese side Shanghai Port in the AFC Champions League Elite, aiming to secure a position in the top eight of Group A as they approach the final two matchdays.
