Joan García is on the brink of returning to the pitch after overcoming physical challenges that have kept him away from the FC Barcelona squad. In a recent interview with RAC1, the Catalan goalkeeper addressed the controversial nature of his departure from Espanyol a few months ago, as he transitioned from the white and blue to the blue and garnet, and shared his thoughts on what his return to the RCDE Stadium will entail in early January. In recounting his experiences at Espanyol, García explained the significance behind his kiss on the club’s crest shortly before leaving: “Everything I have done, including the kiss on the crest, was a genuine expression of my feelings. I spent many years at Espanyol, enduring hardships but also enjoying great moments, particularly in the last year, which was difficult. We were unable to save ourselves until the very last day, and those experiences resonate deeply.” García emphasized that despite his decision to join Barcelona last summer, his affection for Espanyol remains intact: “One sentiment does not negate the other; my fondness for Espanyol can coexist with taking a step forward to pursue what is best for my career.” On January 3rd, the goalkeeper will return to the RCDE Stadium to face his former club in another edition of the Barcelona derby, this time donning different colors. Reflecting on his upcoming return to the stadium he once called home, García stated: “I’m excited and looking forward to it. Will I play the perfect match? I hope so, and that’s what I will strive for. The truth is, I am eager to return. I believe it will be different wearing another jersey, fully aware of the potential outcomes, but I will approach it like any other match. I will aim to perform at my best and help the team secure a victory.” Post navigation Joaquín Sánchez Appointed to Real Betis Board of Directors Joaquín Sánchez Appointed as Betis Advisor: A New Chapter in His Journey
