Joey Veerman Likely to Depart PSV After This Season

Joey Veerman made the decision this winter to remain loyal to PSV, canceling his potential transfer to Fenerbahçe. However, it is highly likely that the creative midfielder is playing his final season in Eindhoven. Transfer journalist Mounir Boualin shared insights in the Transfermind podcast, hosted by SoccerNews, indicating that clear agreements appear to have been established with Veerman for the upcoming summer.

In recent weeks, Veerman has emerged as one of the most talked-about players in the Eredivisie. The Volendam native was on track to join Fenerbahçe but ultimately chose to stay with PSV, as confirmed by the club in a statement last December. “PSV is very keen on keeping me, so certain arrangements have been made that are favorable for both parties,” he disclosed to ESPN recently. Consequently, the Turkish powerhouse was left empty-handed. “There were specific reasons that influenced my decision. Ultimately, I chose not to proceed with the transfer.”

While he will complete the season with PSV, it seems these might be his last matches in the red-and-white jersey. “I believe he will leave this summer for a similar fee,” Boualin noted in the latest episode of Transfermind. “This is expected to be in the range of 22 to 25 million euros.” He further speculated that Veerman might see an increase in his salary for the remainder of the season. “PSV likely promised to enhance his salary. Additionally, he could still secure a valuable transfer come summer. I think such arrangements have been agreed upon.”
