Joël Drommel Shines at Sparta as Future Transfer Looms

omidbasir- Joël Drommel is having an outstanding season with Sparta Rotterdam. The goalkeeper is on loan from PSV Eindhoven, and the club has already accepted that retaining him beyond this season is unlikely.

The aspirations for a foreign transfer seem to be materializing for the PSV loanee. Former PSV player Tommie van der Leegte is full of praise for Drommel, stating, “Just look at how he started and how he’s performing now,” during his appearance on De Rood Wit Podcast. He believes that significant interest will arise for the young goalkeeper, leading to a sale, which he wholeheartedly supports.

Mario Been has also commended Drommel in De Eretribune on ESPN, suggesting that he has made a strong statement with his performances. “One must question whether he is any less capable than Kovar, for instance. I can understand if he doesn’t wish to be the third-choice goalkeeper at PSV, especially with Kovar recently extending his contract and Nick Olij also in the squad. Drommel has proven to be incredibly reliable. In his current form, he is certainly as good as Kovar. Although his initial performances were shaky, particularly in the match against PSV (6-1) where he made a few mistakes, he has since recovered well and has kept a clean sheet nine times. He is truly a breath of fresh air.”
