Ronald Koeman should consider bringing Joël Drommel to the 2026 World Cup, according to Mike Verweij in the De Telegraaf podcast, Kick-Off. The journalist would not be surprised to see the Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper included in the selection for the Netherlands national team soon.

Drommel, who is currently on loan from PSV to Sparta Rotterdam, has been showcasing his talent consistently this season. His standout performance was evident again last weekend in the home victory against FC Groningen, where Sparta won 2-0. “I want to revisit the phenomenal Joël Drommel, who once again made it into the Team of the Week,” Verweij stated in the podcast. “There is a call for him to be included in the World Cup squad as a third goalkeeper. Why not?” he pondered.

Regarding his future, Drommel discussed his situation at the end of January, mentioning that he will return to PSV this summer. “Ultimately, I will need to report back to PSV, and from there we will see how things progress,” he told ESPN. “Staying at PSV is always an option, but they have extended Matěj Kovář’s contract, and Nick Olij is also under contract. I don’t believe they will retain three goalkeepers of that caliber. I would love to experience playing abroad; that would be wonderful.”
