Jordi Cruijff Appointed as Ajax s New Technical DirectorJordi Cruijff Appointed as Ajax s New Technical Director

Jordi Cruijff has been appointed as the new technical director of Ajax, a role that signifies a significant return for the football legend. Peter Bosz, the current coach of PSV, maintains a strong relationship with Cruijff, stemming from their shared past at Maccabi Tel Aviv.

In a recent interview with De Telegraaf, Bosz revealed that he was surprised when Cruijff reached out to him regarding his new position. “He called me some time ago about this. So, I was aware that something was in the works. However, I was taken aback by his willingness to take the step, considering he once expressed that he identified more as a Spaniard than a Dutchman during our time in Tel Aviv. It may be that he finds it romantically appealing to work for the club associated with his father: Ajax.”

Bosz expressed his mixed feelings about the situation, noting that while Cruijff’s new role is exciting for the football community, it may pose challenges for PSV. “It’s great to have him working in the ArenA, as it allows me to follow his progress more closely. However, for PSV, it might be a bit challenging to have someone with his vision stepping into Ajax. I sincerely wish Jordi all the best. I find it exciting and am curious to see how he performs. I will certainly keep an eye on it. Let’s be honest: the name Cruijff is synonymous with Ajax, and you can’t get much closer than this.”
