Jordi Cruijff Appointed New Technical Director of AjaxJordi Cruijff Appointed New Technical Director of Ajax

Jordi Cruijff has been appointed as the new technical director of Ajax, fostering a relationship with the club that resonates with his family’s legacy. His previous affiliation with Maccabi Tel Aviv has established a rapport with Peter Bosz, the current coach of PSV.

In an interview with De Telegraaf, Bosz shared his surprise upon receiving a call from Cruijff about his new position, stating, “He contacted me about this some time ago, so I was aware of the developments. However, I was indeed surprised that he was open to the idea, especially since he had previously expressed to me in Tel Aviv that he identified more as a Spaniard than a Dutchman. At that time, he did not seem inclined to make such a move. It might relate to the romantic notion of working at the club associated with his father: Ajax.”

Bosz, whose contract with PSV is nearing its end, expressed his enthusiasm for Cruijff’s new role: “It’s quite exciting to observe him close up as he takes on this position at the ArenA. For PSV, it could be a challenge having someone with his vision in Amsterdam, but I genuinely wish Jordi the very best. It’s thrilling and I’m curious to see how he performs; I will undoubtedly keep an eye on it. Let’s be honest: the name Cruijff and Ajax are intrinsically linked. What could be more fitting?”
