Jordi Cruijff has been officially appointed as the new technical director of Ajax. As the son of the legendary Johan Cruijff, he will play a crucial role in selecting a new head coach this coming summer.

In a recent episode of the SoccerNews podcast, Transfermind, Xavi Hernández’s name emerged as a potential candidate, given his strong connection with Cruijff.

Approximately one and a half weeks from now, Cruijff will formally take on his role, succeeding Alex Kroes, who will be seeking new opportunities. One of Cruijff’s primary challenges will be to find a suitable coach for the upcoming season. It has been confirmed that Fred Grim will complete the current season, providing Cruijff ample time to appoint the right head coach during the summer.

In addition to candidates from Spain, Dick Schreuder, the current coach of NEC, continues to be considered for the Ajax position. Schreuder previously worked in Spain with CD Castellón. Podcast host Daan Jurgers pondered whether Schreuder and Cruijff had shared any moments over coffee during their time in Castellón, to which Boualin suggested that it is a possibility worth investigating.
