Jordi Cruijff is set to officially assume the role of technical director at Ajax in the near future. As the successor to Alex Kroes, he faces a daunting task at the Johan Cruijff ArenA and must already brace for potential setbacks.

According to Het Parool, Cruijff will first focus on restructuring Ajax’s football organization. He is likely to seek a new coach along with an accompanying technical staff. Moreover, the position of head of scouting is currently vacant, and Cruijff is reportedly considering a Spanish candidate for this role. Given his upbringing in the Spanish football culture, it would not be surprising if he also opts for a Spanish coach.

In terms of player acquisitions, Ajax already has several prospects in mind. Oleksandr Zinchenko, currently on loan from Arsenal to Nottingham Forest, is reportedly high on their wishlist. Transfer journalist Mounir Boualin from SoccerNews previously stated that discussions are underway with Daley Blind.

“He can still be valuable as a player due to his versatility across multiple positions,” Boualin noted.
