Jordy Clasie Responds to Maarten Martens’ Dismissal from AZ

Jordy Clasie, the captain of AZ, recently addressed the dismissal of Maarten Martens during an interview on ESPN’s “Goedemorgen Eredivisie.” Martens was let go in January due to the unsatisfactory performance of the Alkmaar team.

Clasie candidly admitted, “We let him down as a group.” He has been sidelined with an injury and last participated in a match in September. He noted, “We have been rightly praised for our performances, as we played very well. Against Ajax, you could see a team that was able to maintain high intensity for ninety minutes. However, in other matches, this was noticeably lacking. Ultimately, we strive to demonstrate that level of play in every game.”
