Jorge Ruvalcaba has joined the New York club from Pumas UNAM for an undisclosed fee, as announced by the team. The 24-year-old winger has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract that extends through the 2029-30 season, with an option for the 2030-31 season.

In 2026, Ruvalcaba will fill New York’s third Designated Player slot, while still remaining eligible for Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) in subsequent seasons.

“We are very excited to welcome Jorge to our club,” stated Sporting Director Julian de Guzman. “He is a dynamic and creative attacking player who has demonstrated significant potential and a commendable work ethic. We are confident he will make substantial contributions to our success both on and off the field.”

This transfer concludes Ruvalcaba’s five-year tenure with Pumas UNAM, where he became a regular starter in Liga MX. During his time at the club, he made 100 appearances, scoring 16 goals and providing nine assists. In the Apertura 2025 tournament, Ruvalcaba played 15 matches, netting five goals and assisting three times, with notable performances against teams such as Toluca, Cruz Azul, and Club América, all of which finished in the top four of the standings.

Head coach Michael Bradley also expressed enthusiasm regarding the acquisition. “Jorge is a young and talented player, and we’re thrilled to have him join our club,” Bradley remarked. “His pace and versatility provide us with additional options in the attacking third. We look forward to supporting him as he integrates and contributes to the team’s success.”

Before embarking on his professional career, Ruvalcaba played college soccer at Cal State San Bernardino during the 2020 season and represented Ocelot Academy in the United Premier Soccer League.

Born in Rialto, California, Ruvalcaba has made his debut for the Mexico national team, earning his first senior cap on November 19, 2025, where he started and played 60 minutes in a friendly match against Paraguay. He has also represented Mexico’s U-21 team, making four appearances and scoring once in a 2–0 victory over Indonesia at the 2022 Maurice Revello Tournament.
