The recent departure of Heitinga from Ajax may now present an opportunity for Oosting. Frits Barend believes Ajax should consider appointing Oosting as their new head coach. In his remarks on Nieus van de Dag, Barend stated, “There is one person who has been freed from his suffering, and that is John Heitinga.” He criticized Ajax’s management decision to dismiss Heitinga, who had performed well as an assistant under Arne Slot at Liverpool. Barend suggests that Heitinga should have remained with Slot for an additional year or two before taking on a head coaching role at PEC Zwolle, allowing him to gradually develop in his career.
