omidbasir- OKLAHOMA CITY – Jozy Altidore, the former United States soccer forward, has joined NBA superstar Russell Westbrook in the ownership group for OKC for Soccer, as announced on Thursday.

The ownership group has acquired the rights to a USL Championship team, formerly known as the OKC Energy. Plans are in place to establish a team that will compete in a new stadium projected to open in downtown Oklahoma City by 2028.

Altidore, a two-time U.S. Soccer Player of the Year and World Cup veteran, has had a distinguished career, with experience in both the English Premier League and Spain’s LaLiga.

“It is uncommon to find a club with such deep-rooted connections to the community from its inception,” Altidore stated. “This aligns seamlessly with our ambition to create a world-class soccer environment in OKC, encompassing all levels of the sport.”

Joining Altidore in the ownership group are primary stakeholders Echo Investment Capital, his business partner Alex Lee, and the Chickasaw Nation.
