omidbasir- When Jürgen Klopp joined Liverpool in 2015 from Borussia Dortmund, the club was far from being a contender for Premier League titles. By the time he departed in May 2024, his Liverpool squad had achieved remarkable success, becoming champions of England, Europe, and even the world. Klopp’s distinctive style of ‘heavy metal’ football revitalized Liverpool, restoring its status as one of the premier clubs globally. His farewell at Anfield was a poignant occasion, filled with emotion.

Addressing the fans in the stadium, Klopp remarked: “People have told me that I transformed them from doubters into believers. That is not true. You did it. That is a significant difference. No one tells you to stop believing. This club is in a better moment than it has been in a long time. We have this wonderful stadium, an impressive training center, and you—the superpower of world football. Wow.

“I witnessed many tears in the crowd, and I will shed some tonight because I will miss you all. But change is good. You never know what to expect, but if you approach it with the right mindset, everything will be fine because the foundations are absolutely solid. You should embrace the new manager just as you welcomed me. Go all in from day one. When challenges arise, continue to believe and support the team. I am one of you now. I love you all dearly. I will never walk alone again. Thank you. You are the greatest people in the world. Thank you!”

Since his departure, Klopp has returned to Anfield on a few occasions, but on March 28, he will be back in the technical area for a special event. Liverpool will face Borussia Dortmund in a legends charity match to benefit the LFC Foundation. Steven Gerrard will captain Liverpool, while Klopp will assist Sir Kenny Dalglish for this international break fixture. As the honorary ambassador for the foundation, Klopp will return to his former club for this charity match, with all proceeds supporting the foundation’s initiatives and Forever Reds.

In July 2024, Klopp expressed pride in his role with the LFC Foundation, stating: “The LFC Foundation does incredible work in the community, both in the Liverpool City Region and beyond. I am really proud to continue my association with them and to be named the first-ever honorary ambassador. I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish now that I have more time available.”

Despite frequent speculation linking him to prominent managerial positions following high-profile departures, Klopp has downplayed such rumors. Recently, after Xabi Alonso’s exit, he was linked to the Real Madrid job, but he suggested that he may not return to management at all.

“I don’t expect to change my mind, but I don’t know,” Klopp stated. “We are currently building a house, and my wife wanted a very large trophy room. There was another smaller room, and I said, ‘This is sufficient because we know how many trophies we have; we will not be adding anymore.’ It may sound arrogant, but I know I can coach a football team—I just don’t feel the need to do it until my last day.”

Liverpool, under the guidance of Arne Slot, will next compete in the Premier League on Saturday at home against Newcastle United, followed by a match against title challengers Manchester City at Anfield on February 8. While the Reds may be out of the title race, they have the potential to significantly influence the outcome of the championship this season.
