omidbasir- In the 16th minute of the match between Sevilla and Alavés, Juanlu Sánchez received a second yellow card for stepping on Yusi Enríquez. The Sevilla player had already been cautioned in the second minute for a harsh tackle on the same player, which was reviewed by VAR, leading to his early departure from the game. Consequently, his team faced a significant challenge due to being one player down, but they managed to secure at least a point.

Earlier today, Juanlu took to social media to express his remorse regarding the red card. He stated:

“I would like to apologize for leaving the team with one less player in the first half. Sometimes, an excess of enthusiasm can lead to mistakes, and yesterday was one of those occasions. All I can do is learn from these types of errors to continue growing and contributing to the club that I hold dear in the best way possible.

I also want to thank all my teammates for their tremendous effort yesterday, competing with one less player. I have no doubt that with this attitude, we will overcome the challenges ahead.

Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to our fans for the incredible support they offered right from the pre-match buildup. As a Sevillista and a player, I take great pride in this fan base.”

In the post-match press conference, coach Matías Almeyda acknowledged that Juanlu’s expulsion was “justly issued.” Nevertheless, he showed understanding toward the young Sevilla player. “We will see what is discussed upon reviewing the footage. Clearly, there is a lesson in every situation. We all learn from these experiences, and even I will learn from certain aspects of this one,” he remarked.
