omidbasir- Roy Keane has directed criticism towards Benjamin Sesko after the striker’s remarkable goal. Coming off the bench, Sesko connected with a precise cross from Bryan Mbeumo, finishing with a superb strike into the top corner, contributing to Carrick’s unbeaten streak, which now extends to five games. However, in classic Keane fashion, he suggested that this performance merely highlights the waning standards at Old Trafford, drawing a comparison to the airline Ryanair.

Following the match, manager Michael Carrick was notably complimentary about Sesko’s performance. He remarked, “It’s an unbelievable finish from that angle—generating the power to get it on target and finish it is quite the achievement. Ben is capable of such feats. This isn’t a sudden emergence; he has consistently shown his goal-scoring ability, both in matches and during training. It’s not surprising, really. It’s simply what he does well.”

On the program “Stick To Football,” Keane commented, “It was a nice finish, but isn’t that what we expect from him? He came off the bench while the team was chasing the game. The expectations surrounding Manchester United have become analogous to Ryanair. If a flight is on time, passengers celebrate. However, delays are expected, and it hardly raises an eyebrow anymore.

“I flew with Ryanair recently, and my flight was two hours late. No one was even upset; it has become the norm. With Ryanair, when the music plays after landing on time, that’s akin to Sesko’s performance—it’s what is expected. The standards have lowered; he is a striker, after all. While the goal was indeed a lovely finish, people are getting overly excited because it was an equalizer. Ian Wright used to achieve similar feats weekly.

“You, Gary Neville, are merely a cheerleader for this team, along with Jim Ratcliffe! A draw against West Ham is celebrated as if it were a monumental achievement. This indicates there is little pressure on the current Manchester United squad.”

Sesko has now netted six goals in the Premier League this season, with four goals in his last five matches for the club.

Carrick further added, “His last goal would have been a tremendous boost. The emotional context of the game made it significant—it was a pivotal moment for him and for us.”

Looking ahead, United will face Everton away on Monday evening before hosting Crystal Palace. Currently, Carrick’s side sits fourth in the Premier League table, trailing leaders Arsenal by 11 points and just one point ahead of Chelsea in fifth place.

Michael Owen shared his insights with GOAL, suggesting that Manchester United could potentially be consistent title challengers within the next two years. He stated, “Despite their current success, the team still needs bolstering, especially with Casemiro likely departing. There are uncertainties surrounding Bruno Fernandes’ future as well. This summer may require significant changes to the squad.

“In their current form, they could finish second or third by the end of the season. If the league were to start tomorrow, they would certainly have a realistic chance of competing for the title, particularly given the inconsistent performances from Liverpool and City. Ultimately, this season may see a lower points total required to win the league, making their current form quite promising.”
