Kelly Gago s Future at Everton in Question Amid Release Clause DiscussionsKelly Gago s Future at Everton in Question Amid Release Clause Discussions

Kelly Gago, the Everton forward who joined the club from FC Nantes in 2024, is reportedly available for transfer if another club is willing to meet the release clause stipulated in her contract, according to manager Brian Sorensen.

The 27-year-old France international expressed her frustrations in a recent interview with French newspaper L’Equipe, claiming that Everton has impeded her potential move to Paris St-Germain. She described her treatment at the club as “unfair” and recounted a distressing incident involving a member of Sorensen’s coaching staff during a training session that left her in tears.

Gago has approximately two and a half years remaining on her contract with Everton, following an extension signed in June 2025. Reports indicate that her release clause is set at around £500,000, while PSG recently made a bid of only 50,000 euros (approximately £43,000).

As of now, no other bids have been reported for Gago. “She is currently unavailable due to fitness issues and has expressed a desire to leave,” Sorensen stated ahead of Everton’s match against Brighton. “The club interested in her can simply pay the release clause for her to be free to leave. However, the offer submitted is approximately 10% of that clause, which suggests she is unlikely to depart at this time.”

When asked about the possibility of Gago playing for Everton again this season, Sorensen added, “I cannot say at this point; we will have to see how things develop.”

According to club sources, an internal investigation regarding Gago’s allegations found no wrongdoing on the part of the staff. They also refute claims that meetings were missed or that Gago was coerced into extending her contract last year.
