Kieron Bowie Becomes Hibernian s All Time Record Sale to Hellas VeronaKieron Bowie Becomes Hibernian s All Time Record Sale to Hellas Verona

Kieron Bowie has officially become Hibernian’s record sale, transferring to Serie A club Hellas Verona on a four-and-a-half year contract.

While Hibernian has not disclosed the exact transfer fee, they confirmed that it “substantially exceeds” the £4.4 million Celtic paid for midfielder Scott Brown in 2007.

The 23-year-old striker netted 15 goals in 52 appearances for the Easter Road team after joining from Fulham in 2024.

Hibernian head coach David Gray expressed gratitude towards Bowie, stating, “Firstly, I would like to thank Kieron for the way he has conducted himself over the last 18 months. He has been a pleasure to coach, and it has been fantastic to work with him both on and off the pitch. This is a life-changing move for him and his family. He has a bright career ahead, and we wish him every success in Italy and in the future.”

Earlier this week, Hibs turned down an initial bid from Verona, but after accepting a second offer, Bowie traveled to Milan for a medical examination.

The transfer fee may increase if specific performance-related add-ons are met, and Hibs has also secured a sell-on clause.

Currently, Verona finds themselves at the bottom of Serie A, four points away from safety, ahead of their match against Cagliari on Saturday.

Malky Mackay, Hibs’ sporting director, also conveyed his best wishes to Bowie, stating, “It has been a joy to watch him develop during his time at Hibs and to see him progress through the international youth squads before earning his first senior Scotland cap. There has always been speculation regarding Kieron, with multiple clubs submitting bids throughout the transfer window. We have worked diligently to secure a deal that reflects his true value and serves the best interests of Hibernian and all parties involved.”
