omidbasir- Eugen Polanski, head coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach, indicated in his pre-match press conference that it was time for the long-injured captain Tim Kleindienst to make his return this weekend. Polanski emphasized that he was not overly concerned with the views of the club’s medical staff, stating that it was imperative for Kleindienst to step back onto a Bundesliga pitch.

In a strategic move, Polanski introduced Kleindienst in the least risky scenario possible. The 30-year-old player entered the match against his former club, 1. FC Heidenheim, when the outcome was already clear. Kleindienst made his appearance during the second half, checking in at the 90+1 minute mark, and managed to secure four touches on the ball.

“Being back on the pitch is a positive thing,” Kleindienst expressed in the mixed zone post-match. “I thank the Heidenheim fans for the applause. I know it may sound a bit cheesy, but it truly touched me deeply.”

Kleindienst is aware that it will take considerable time before he can contribute more extensively following his significant knee surgery. Additionally, there have been unexpected developments within the team he last represented in late spring.

On loan from Hoffenheim, striker Haris Tabakovic was initially deemed a potential disappointment for the team, having had two lackluster performances in his first fixtures. However, the Bosnian international quickly started to capitalize on limited scoring chances, and his performance has markedly improved.

After scoring again in Saturday’s victory, Tabakovic has amassed seven league goals, placing him behind only England’s Harry Kane and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Jonathan Burkardt in Bundesliga scoring this season. Kleindienst was quick to commend his fellow late-bloomer in his post-match remarks.

“Haris is doing an amazing job,” Kleindienst acknowledged. “I hope he can maintain this momentum. I need another month and a half to two months to be fully ready. Initially, I expect to come off the bench a few times. Competitive football is challenging, and I have aspects to improve upon. However, I am comfortable with my current role as a substitute.”
