Kodai Sano Remains with NEC for the Season Amid Transfer Speculations

Kodai Sano will remain with NEC for the remainder of the season. Clubs such as Ajax and Nottingham Forest have been unsuccessful in their attempts to secure the Japanese player from Nijmegen, and it appears that a domestic transfer next season is also improbable.

Despite Ajax reportedly reaching an agreement with Sano for a contract extending over four and a half years, NEC has remained resolute in their decision to keep him. The Gelderlander has noted, “There is no longer any point in speculation. There are no indications that Sano will demand a transfer or, in a worst-case scenario, initiate arbitration as has been suggested in some circles to force a move to Ajax.”

Ajax was reportedly unwilling to exceed a bid of fifteen million euros, including bonuses and a sell-on percentage. Nottingham Forest had proposed a twenty million euro offer but was also met with a firm rejection.
