Emmanuel Emegha and Luciano Valente are making a strong impression on Ronald Koeman as they join the Dutch national team for the upcoming international matches against Poland and Lithuania. During a press conference in Warsaw, Koeman indicated that he will further evaluate the newcomers this week.

Emegha was called up to replace Wout Weghorst, who initially reported for duty but had to withdraw due to an injury. Koeman remarked, “We thought on Monday that Wout might recover, but the situation turned out to be more serious than we anticipated.” However, Koeman was not caught off guard, stating, “I am not surprised, as he arrived with complaints. That is why we had already summoned Emmanuel Emegha as a precaution.”

The inclusion of the replacement striker allows Koeman to observe the RC Strasbourg forward closely. “Emegha is making a good impression, but it has only been a short period so far. I believe it would be best to address that question on Monday evening,” Koeman added.

Valente’s call-up had been anticipated for some time. The Feyenoord midfielder reported to Zeist on Monday and has also started positively within the group. “Luciano has begun well in the squad. You can see that he is adapting to the level of play. They both realize that this is a step up from what they are accustomed to.”
