Legal Resolution Between Jos Mar a del Nido Benavente and Lucas Fern ndez de BobadillaLegal Resolution Between Jos Mar a del Nido Benavente and Lucas Fern ndez de Bobadilla

omidbasir- On Monday, José María del Nido Benavente and Lucas Fernández de Bobadilla, the lawyer for Sevilla Football Club, reached a judicial armistice concerning events that transpired during last season’s derby at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán on October 6, 2024. On that day, the former president criticized the lawyer, who serves as the right-hand man of Alberto Pérez-Solano in the club’s legal services, for alleged malpractice in the cases involving the principal shareholder and the current Board of Directors, as evidenced by security camera footage.

During a hearing at the 11th Instruction Court this morning, Del Nido Benavente expressed sincere remorse and issued an apology for his behavior. In light of this gesture, Fernández de Bobadilla decided to withdraw the complaint, in accordance with an earlier agreement between both parties, who made amends before the judge with a handshake. Consequently, the case has been archived.

This peace agreement concludes the 20-match ban imposed on Del Nido Benavente by Sevilla, which restricted him from occupying his seat in the Nervión stadium; he had served six matches before receiving court-ordered measures allowing him to reclaim his seat.

The reconciliation between Del Nido Benavente and Fernández de Bobadilla comes at a time when auditor KPMG is reviewing Sevilla’s financial accounts amidst a due diligence process. The previously confrontational tone of the former president has noticeably softened in recent weeks, coinciding with the progression of the club’s share sale process. This step appears essential for seeking stability, aimed at resolving the current institutional situation.
