Leicester City has parted ways with manager Marti Cifuentes following a six-month spell in charge that saw the team languishing in the lower half of the Championship table.

The 43-year-old’s tenure concluded after a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Oxford, marking the team’s 11th loss in 29 league matches under his leadership.

Cifuentes was appointed in July with the objective of guiding Leicester back to the Premier League after the club’s second relegation in three years. With the team currently occupying 14th place, six points adrift of the play-off positions, the decision to relieve him of his duties was made.

Leicester chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha expressed that this was a challenging decision, stating, “This has been a difficult decision and not one I have taken lightly. I would like to thank Martí for the total commitment he has shown during his time at Leicester City. He gave everything to the role and worked tirelessly to help us achieve our targets.”

Further updates are expected as the club navigates this transitional period.
