Leny Yoro has publicly stated that he has no regrets about his decision to decline an opportunity to sign with Real Madrid in favor of joining Manchester United.

The 19-year-old was presented with the chance to move to the Bernabéu in 2024, but Manchester United secured a deal with Lille before he made his choice.

Yoro faced a challenging debut season at Old Trafford, where Ruben Amorim’s team finished 15th in the Premier League and lost in the Europa League final to Tottenham. However, he maintains that his choice to join United was the correct one and expresses satisfaction with his current situation at the club.

“This is a significant choice one must make in their career,” Yoro remarked. “I have had opportunities with several clubs, not just Madrid or United. My choice today is Manchester, and I am genuinely happy with it.”

He acknowledged the discussions surrounding his decision, especially following a difficult season. “I understand the opinions of others, but ultimately, it is my choice and my career. I am confident in my direction and committed to improving in the future.”

Had Yoro opted for Real Madrid, he would be competing in the Champions League this season and could be in contention for top positions in LaLiga. Instead, he is part of a rebuilding process at United, a journey that Amorim suggests may take years to complete.

Nevertheless, Yoro believes the club is on a positive trajectory under the Portuguese coach. He expressed his confidence in achieving his goals in Manchester rather than Madrid.

“Even after last season, I never felt regret or negativity about my decision. I know that Manchester United is a prestigious club, and there is no room for doubt regarding that,” he stated.

“I was aware of the club’s project before I arrived, and while I did not anticipate finishing in 15th place during my first year, challenges are part of the journey.”

“The club’s director, the coach, and all the players are here to support you every day. It is essential to maintain confidence in this club, hold your head high, and strive to do your best.”
