Leny Yoro has expressed that he holds no regrets regarding his decision to decline an offer from Real Madrid in favor of joining Manchester United.

The 19-year-old midfielder had the opportunity to sign with the prestigious club in 2024 but ultimately chose to finalize a deal with Manchester United from Lille.

Yoro faced a difficult inaugural season at Old Trafford, where the team finished 15th in the Premier League and suffered a defeat in the Europa League final against Tottenham. However, he remains confident that he made the right choice by joining United and insists he is content with his decision.

“This is a significant choice to make in one’s career,” Yoro commented. “I had opportunities with several clubs, not just Madrid or United, but today my choice is Manchester, and I am truly happy here.”

He acknowledged the criticism surrounding his decision, particularly in light of the team’s performance last season. “I understand the opinions of others, but ultimately, this is my choice and my career. I am aware of what I am doing, and I am focused on improving in the future.”

Had he opted for Real Madrid, Yoro would be competing in the Champions League this season and striving for top positions in La Liga. Instead, he is part of a rebuilding phase at Manchester United, a process that coach Ruben Amorim suggests may take years to complete.

Despite the challenges, Yoro believes that the club is on the right path under Amorim’s guidance. He stated, “Even after last season, I have never felt regret. I understand that Manchester United can experience ups and downs, but it is an elite club, and I have no doubts about that.”

Yoro was aware of the club’s project prior to his arrival and recognized that a 15th place finish was not an expected outcome. “These are challenges one must confront. However, with the support of the club’s director, the coach, and my teammates, I feel encouraged every day. I have confidence in this club, and I strive to give my best daily.”
