Leon Goretzka Expresses Interest in FC Barcelona under Hansi FlickLeon Goretzka Expresses Interest in FC Barcelona under Hansi Flick

According to Mundo Deportivo, Leon Goretzka has contacted Hansi Flick, the head coach of FC Barcelona, to discuss a possible transfer this summer.

Goretzka’s contract with Bayern Munich is set to expire at the end of the summer, allowing him to negotiate with other clubs freely starting January 1st, without needing Bayern’s consent.

Familiar with Flick from their time together at Bayern and the German national team, Goretzka reportedly conveyed his willingness to play under Flick again if the opportunity arises.

However, FC Barcelona is not currently prioritizing a transfer for Goretzka, as they are focused on strengthening other positions during the winter transfer window. While Flick may welcome the addition of a physical defensive midfielder, the likelihood of such a transfer remains low.

Consequently, Goretzka’s future remains uncertain. A significant obstacle for potential suitors could be the midfielder’s substantial salary at Bayern Munich. If Goretzka considers a move elsewhere in Europe, he might need to accept a pay cut to secure regular playing time. There is also the possibility of a transfer to Saudi Arabia, yet it is unclear if he would be amenable to such a move, particularly with a World Cup year approaching.
