Levante has initiated efforts to expedite the return of striker Etta Eyong after his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations. The club aims for him to be available for the upcoming match against Espanyol, scheduled for Sunday at 16:15 at the Ciutat de València. Eyong’s national team, Cameroon, was eliminated from the tournament on Friday night, during which he played only 13 minutes.

On Saturday, Levante’s head coach, Luís Castro, confirmed that the club is actively working to ensure Eyong’s timely return, stating, “We are doing what we can to have him with us.” He indicated that there is a real possibility for the player to be available for the match.

Castro acknowledged that the current situation is less than ideal from a sporting perspective. “I have spoken with him, and it is clear that the best scenario would be for him to train with us to assimilate what we have worked on as a team in recent days,” explained the coach. He emphasized the importance of Eyong’s early integration into training sessions to adapt to the tactical demands expected in the coming match.

Despite these challenges, Castro pointed out that Eyong is already well-acquainted with the team dynamics and can have an immediate impact. “He is a player who knows the squad well and is important for us, especially for the game ahead,” he noted.

After making his debut as a starter in the Africa Cup against Gabon, where he scored a goal, Etta Eyong has concluded his international tournament participation with that sole goal, as he did not return to the starting lineup thereafter. In total, he has played for 115 minutes across four matches.
