Levante Faces Tough Challenge Against Sevilla in LaLigaLevante Faces Tough Challenge Against Sevilla in LaLiga

Luis Castro makes his debut in Spain at the Sánchez Pizjuán as he takes charge of Levante, currently at the bottom of the league. This match poses a significant challenge for Levante, as Sevilla has not lost any of their last eight encounters against the Orriols team in LaLiga. The last four games have all ended in favor of the Andalusian side, presenting a daunting task for Levante as they seek to avoid relegation.

During the Christmas toast with the coaching staff and players, Del Nido Carrasco highlighted the importance of the upcoming January fixtures, particularly the three matches at Sánchez Pizjuán. He emphasized the need for Sevilla to establish a strong home presence to secure their top-flight status as soon as possible. “We must ensure that everyone who visits knows they are playing in front of our supporters and that we will make it very challenging for them,” he stated.

Levante will be the first team to visit Nervión this January. Coach Matías Almeyda will be unable to rely on injured players Gabriel Suazo, Rubén Vargas, and Alfon González, alongside Azpilicueta, who joined the injury list yesterday with a soleus muscle injury in his right leg. Isaac Romero’s inclusion in the starting eleven is uncertain after recovering from a fever, and while Nianzou is back in training with the team, he has not been included in the matchday squad.

Additionally, Levante will miss the services of Nigerian players Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke, who are competing in the Africa Cup of Nations, and the suspended Marcao.

As Levante aims for their third away victory of the season, they will look to break a winless streak of three months, having recorded six losses and three draws in that period. For this crucial match, Unai Elgezabal, Roger Brugué, and Koyalipou are unavailable due to injuries, while Álex Primo is sidelined due to illness. Etta Eyong is also not an option as he is currently with the Cameroon national team. Victor García’s participation remains uncertain as he is awaiting medical tests after leaving training with discomfort.

Returning to the club that nurtured him, the attacking midfielder has emerged as a key player for Levante, contributing two goals and one assist. Agoumé, who has not scored since the opening matchday, will also be on the pitch, as both teams look for crucial improvements.
