Leverkusen Considers Goalkeeper Options Following Flekken s InjuryLeverkusen Considers Goalkeeper Options Following Flekken s Injury

According to reports from Kicker, Bayer Leverkusen is contemplating the acquisition of a new goalkeeper after Mark Flekken sustained an injury during the recent match against Hoffenheim.

The club has identified three potential candidates: Filip Jörgensen from Chelsea, and Manchester City’s backups James Trafford and Stefan Ortega.

Jörgensen has expressed an openness to a transfer abroad, while Trafford appears keen on remaining within the Premier League. Alternatively, Ortega’s contract at Manchester City is set to expire this summer, making him a viable option for a low-cost or possibly free transfer. His previous links to Leverkusen and his status as third choice at City could facilitate a swift deal, particularly as he would assist with Champions League registration requirements.

Flekken was substituted in the 60th minute of the match, where he was later diagnosed with a knee injury. In his absence, backup goalkeeper Janis Blaswich stepped in and will take on the starting role unless Leverkusen opts to secure a new signing during the current transfer window.
