Robert Lewandowski has achieved an impressive milestone in the Champions League, joining an elite group of players who have scored over 20 goals for two different clubs. The seasoned striker, who joined Barcelona in 2022 after netting 69 goals for Bayern Munich, has now surpassed the 20-goal mark for the Catalan club, including a notable performance last season where he reached double figures in European competition. His most recent goal contributed to a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Slavia Prague, where he capped off the match following an own goal from an opponent.

Only three other players have matched Lewandowski’s achievement of scoring 20-plus goals in the Champions League for two different teams. Cristiano Ronaldo was the first to accomplish this feat, having been a prolific scorer for both Manchester United and Real Madrid. Similarly, England’s captain Harry Kane has reached the same milestone with Tottenham and Bayern Munich, while Neymar did so with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

In addition to this accolade, Lewandowski’s latest goal marks the 15th consecutive Champions League campaign in which he has found the back of the net. Ronaldo holds the record with 16 consecutive seasons, while Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema have achieved 18.

In a post-match interview after scoring against Slavia, Lewandowski expressed his relief: “Finally, the first goal came. Hopefully, it will get easier now.” He began his Champions League journey in 2011 while with Borussia Dortmund and has since maintained remarkable individual performance standards, accumulating a total of 114 goals in UEFA competitions. He currently ranks third on the all-time list, trailing only Messi (132) and Ronaldo (145).

As speculation grows about Lewandowski’s future at Barcelona, his contract is nearing its expiration, and at 37 years old, he may soon become a free agent. Reports indicate that teams in the United States are interested in signing him, particularly as he considers a potential move to join Messi at Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick commented on Lewandowski’s future, stating, “I don’t know where Robert Lewandowski will be next season. I’m really happy with him, but I am honest too. I spoke with him. We’ll see what happens and we’ll decide at the end of the season.”

Lewandowski himself has been noncommittal about his plans, mentioning in December 2025, “I still have time to make a decision. Right now, I don’t know where I want to play. There’s no need to think about it yet. I don’t know which direction to take, but I don’t have any pressure.”

Despite the uncertainty, he acknowledged the possibility of extending his contract at Camp Nou: “I am not talking to the coach about interested clubs. It’s not about cutting my salary in half. A lot depends on the club’s plan and what I want.”

Recent reports suggest that Barcelona is open to the idea of retaining Lewandowski for another year, as they currently lack a suitable replacement. Ferran Torres has often filled the striker role this season, but more competition is necessary to challenge for major honors on multiple fronts. Additionally, the Blaugrana have been linked with former Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who has an exit clause in his Bayern contract, potentially making him a viable option to step into Lewandowski’s position.
