Lewandowski s Future Interest from Saudi Pro League and MLSLewandowski s Future Interest from Saudi Pro League and MLS

In a recent report by Spanish publication AS, Robert Lewandowski’s Israeli agent, Pini Zahavi, is scheduled to meet with officials from the Saudi Pro League in anticipation of the January transfer window opening on New Year’s Day.

The report indicates that Lewandowski has already received an offer from the Saudi Pro League; however, the specific clubs interested in signing the striker have not been disclosed. This season, Lewandowski has managed to score eight goals in 18 appearances across all competitions for Barcelona.

At 37 years old, Lewandowski is reportedly enticed by the prospect of playing in the Middle East, where the Saudi Pro League boasts several prominent figures, including Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr and stars like Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante at Al-Ittihad.

Additionally, a separate report from the BBC earlier this month revealed that Lewandowski’s representatives have engaged in discussions with MLS club Chicago Fire regarding a potential move to the United States. Chicago Fire, which has previously pursued high-profile players like Neymar and Kevin De Bruyne, is believed to have prioritized Lewandowski as a target for at least six months, especially given the city’s significant Polish community.

Renowned as Poland’s greatest footballer, Lewandowski has scored 88 goals in 163 caps for his national team. The Polish Eagles are still in contention for qualification for the upcoming World Cup in North America, with a crucial play-off semi-final against Albania scheduled for Thursday, March 26, 2026.

According to the BBC, Lewandowski is open to the possibility of joining Chicago Fire, with financial considerations unlikely to pose an obstacle; however, AS reports that the Saudi Pro League has extended a more lucrative financial package to his camp.

After a prolific spell in which he netted 344 goals in 375 matches for Bayern Munich, Lewandowski joined Barcelona in July 2022. Since then, he has secured five trophies with the team, including league titles in the 2022-23 and 2024-25 seasons, while scoring 109 goals in 165 matches for the Blaugrana.

Nonetheless, his future at Barcelona is becoming increasingly uncertain, particularly as fellow striker Ferran Torres has stepped up his performance this season. Torres has scored 13 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions, with 11 of those goals coming in La Liga, ranking second in the league behind only Kylian Mbappe.

When asked about his long-term future in November, Lewandowski remarked, “I still don’t know the answer. That’s why I’m not in a hurry; I’m at peace with myself. The most important thing is to feel what’s best for me. Now I’m calm, I’m not in a hurry, and I don’t expect anything else at the moment.”

Barcelona will resume their campaign following Spain’s winter break, facing Espanyol in the Catalan derby on Saturday, January 3. They will then compete against Athletic Club, managed by former Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde, in the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup four days later.

Lewandowski made his return to the squad in the 2-0 victory against Villarreal last Sunday after missing the previous two matches against Osasuna and CD Guadalajara. Following the win, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick reflected on the year, stating, “I think we’ve overcome a lot of challenges this year. The most important factor has been our training; everyone gives 100 percent. We need to rest and celebrate Christmas with our families. Our improved defense has also been key, alongside the return of quality players.”
