Liverpool’s head coach, Arne Slot, has remarked humorously on his team’s “consistency” in the Premier League this season, noting that this consistency has primarily manifested in a series of losses. The Premier League champions faced a challenging month, suffering four consecutive league defeats before securing a victory against Aston Villa last weekend. They followed this up with a 1-0 win over Real Madrid in the Champions League midweek. Currently, Liverpool finds itself seven points behind league leaders Arsenal. Slot has acknowledged that for his team to have any chance of closing this gap in the title race, they must focus on executing the fundamentals correctly. “We were actually very consistent, but the thing is, we were consistent in losing,” Slot stated during a recent news conference ahead of the upcoming match against Manchester City. “We need to be consistent in doing things right. Facing Manchester City away presents one of the toughest challenges of the season, and it is a match that everyone anticipates with great interest.” Reflecting on his past experiences, Slot noted, “When I was in the Netherlands, I was always aware of when Manchester City faced Liverpool, and I can assure you, I was 100% in front of the television for those matches. These are the encounters everyone looks forward to.” Slot further emphasized, “My sole focus is on our performance, particularly our consistency at this moment. We have lost more games than usual, but we have also recently secured two wins. Our priority is to improve and ensure our players are fit, and we will see where that takes us.” In addition, Liverpool may benefit from the return of striker Alexander Isak, who is expected to resume team training on Friday after recovering from a groin injury. “He will train with the team for the first time today following three weeks of rehabilitation,” Slot mentioned. “I remarked three weeks ago that his pre-season had concluded, and it’s time to assess his readiness. However, I must reiterate that three weeks of rehabilitation doesn’t equate to being back at the previous performance level. While our team has done an excellent job, the reality is that you cannot compare rehabilitation with match play or training sessions. Therefore, patience is necessary as he readjusts.” Post navigation Exciting Matchups Await: Premier League and Beyond This Weekend Arsenal and Chelsea Clash in High-Stakes WSL Showdown
