Liverpool’s head coach, Arne Slot, humorously noted that his team has demonstrated a form of “consistency” in the Premier League this season—albeit a consistency in losing matches. The reigning champions suffered four consecutive league defeats before regaining their form with a victory against Aston Villa last weekend. They followed that success with a 1-0 win over Real Madrid in the Champions League earlier this week. This recent downturn has left Liverpool trailing seven points behind league leaders Arsenal. Slot acknowledged that for his team to make up ground in the title race, they must focus on executing the “right things” moving forward. “We were indeed very consistent, but unfortunately, that consistency was in losing,” Slot stated during a press conference ahead of their imminent match against Manchester City. “We have to maintain consistency in doing things correctly. Competing against Manchester City away is one of the toughest challenges of the season. It promises to be an intriguing matchup. “Even when I was in the Netherlands, I was always aware of when Manchester City faced Liverpool, and I can assure you that I was glued to the television for those matches. These are the kinds of games everyone anticipates eagerly.” The Dutch manager continued, “My primary concern is our team, and right now, our focus is on achieving consistency. We have lost more matches than usual, but we have recently won two. “Our emphasis is on improvement and getting our players fit. We’ll see where that leads us.” In a potential boost for the team, striker Alexander Isak may return to action against City, having resumed team training after a three-week absence due to a groin injury. “He will train for the first time today with the team after being sidelined for three weeks,” Slot confirmed. “As I mentioned three weeks ago, his pre-season has now concluded. It’s time to assess his current condition. “However, I must reiterate that three weeks of rehabilitation doesn’t instantly restore a player to their previous level. While our team has done a commendable job, there’s simply no comparison between rehabilitation, match experience, and training sessions. We need to allow him some time to readjust.” Post navigation Sir Alex Ferguson Celebrates Pep Guardiola’s Milestone Achievement Trinity Rodman’s Status Uncertain Ahead of NWSL Quarterfinal
